The Dilla and Dres album is real
Six years ago, Dres from Black Sheep told a crowd he had gone through hundreds of folders of unreleased J Dilla beats and was putting out an album. People have been waiting ever since. This week, the first track dropped. It is called “Trains Go By,” it has a full video, and you can watch it right now in the link below.
The project is called No Words, billed as D&D: Dilla and Dres. Every beat comes from Dilla’s personal vault, hand-picked by Dres with the blessing of Ma Dukes, Dilla’s mother. There is no label, no streaming rollout, and no price tag. Dres is releasing one free video per week for more than ten weeks, with the full album to follow as a free download. “Trains Go By” is week one.
