Tracklib’s Sample Breakdown for 50 Years of Hip Hop

In the honor of 50 years of Hip Hop, Tracklib showcased a sample breakdown of each year’s most iconic (in their opinion) composition . Starting with DJ Kool Herc’s legendary first Merry Go ‘Round which featured ‘Give It Up Or Turnit A Loose’ by James Brown and ‘ Bongo Rock’ by The Incredible Bongo Band, it shows which samples were used for such classics as Rakim & Eric B’s ‘Paid In Full’ and Mobb Deep’s “Shook Ones Pt. II”, all the way to “Hate it or Love it” by The Game & 50 Cent, XXXTentacion’s “Look At Me”and many more.

The video contains excellent visual cues which show how different samples were intertwined in the compositions, as well as the audio manipulations carried out on sampled parts.
