So Solid Crew – The Making of “21 Seconds”

So Solid Crew’s Lisa Maffia shares the story behind the collective’s chart-topping single, ’21 Seconds’.

Released in August 2001, the track was the south-west London outfit’s second single from their debut album ‘They Don’t Know’, and the first of five consecutive top-20 hits for the group.

Here, Maffia talks through the basis of the 21 seconds element of the track, with each MC getting an equal amount of time to deliver their bars, the revered video and its big-screen premiere in Leicester Square, and subsequent performance at The BRIT Awards — where So Solid also won British Video of the Year — as well as performing on Top of the Pops.
