RE:GENERATION (Free Album)

A catalyst for musical innovation, RE:GENERATION MUSIC PROJECT is a new documentary, produced in association with the GRAMMYs® and presented by Hyundai Veloster, that examines music’s past, present and future, while yielding five revolutionary collaborations in the process.

The RE:GENERATION soundtrack album featuring the songs created by the remarkable DJ/producers featured in the film—Mark Ronson, DJ Premier, The Crystal Method, Pretty Lights and Skrillex—along with brand new remixes by Zedd, Apathy, Bonobo and Static Revenger is now available as a free download.

Directed by award-winning documentarian Amir Bar-Lev (The Tillman Story, My Kid Could Paint That), RE:GENERATION follows these five DJs/producers as they re-imagine music collaborating with influential artists from rock, R&B, classical, country and jazz genres including: NAS, Members of The Doors, Erykah Badu, Mos Def, Martha Reeves, LeAnn Rimes, Dr. Ralph Stanley, The Berklee Symphony Orchestra, Zigaboo Modeliste, The Funk Brothers, Trobone Shorty and Members of The Dap Kings. They use their talent and technology to mix musical styles and generations for the creation of five original tracks that are nothing short of magical.

All the songs created in the film have been made available via YouTube, garnering attention from the likes of Entertainment Weekly, USA Today and RollingStone.com. Now, they can be obtained digitally as a free download along with special remixes: “Breakn’ A Sweat,” created by five-time Grammy nominee (including “Best New Artist”) Skrillex and Members of the Doors, has been remixed by Zedd; Ninja Tune artist Bonobo lends his talents to Mark Ronson’s “A La Modeliste”; Apathy, who has collaborated with DJ Premier in the past for “Stop What Ya Doin,” remixes “Regeneration”; The Crystal Method’s “I’m Not Leaving” featuring Martha Reeves and The Funk Brothers gets a new treatment from Motor City native Static Revenger; and Pretty Lights remixes his own “Wayfaring Stranger” with an updated twist highlighting LeAnn Rimes’ original vocal.
