KPrymeTheJaeger & XP – Thank You Nujabes & J Dilla
The two U.K.-based producers, KPrymeTheJaeger and XP have teamed up to release a joint project Thank You Nujabes & J Dilla. The release is formatted as a double EP, with each side containing 4 songs honoring one of the late legends (and one of the four honoring both). XP’s side tributes the Detroit icon J Dilla who not only revolutionized Hip-Hop, but modern music as a whole. KPryme, whose father is the great KRS-One, gave acclaim to the chill-hop pioneer from Japan, Nujabes.
The whole project is full of production details that show it was created with care, and respect for Dilla and Nujabes. Soulful, easygoing sounds are prevalent throughout its eight tracks, even though it switches it up at times, with samples adding intensity and creating emotional contrast.
