In The Memory Of MCA
Adam Nathaniel Yauch, also known as MCA from The Beastie Boys died on this particular day- 4th of May.
He was also a musician, film director, song writer, director and a human rights activist. Sometimes, in his career he worked under the pseudonim Nathanial Hornblower.
He was born in Brooklyn on 5th of August in 1964. He was an only child and had non-religious upbringing. In his early years of life he tought himself to play bass guitar and soon formed the Beastie Boys with John Berry, Kate Schellenbach and Michael Diamond.
They played their frst show on his 17th birthday, while they were still a hardcore punk band.
The first album from Beastie Boys was “Licensed to III” on Def Jam Records from 1986 and the last one was ” Hot Sauce Commitee Part TWO” from 2011.
The Beastie Boys had sold 40 million records worldwide by 2010. In April 2012, the group was inducted into the “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame” . At that time Yauch’s health wasn’t so good so he didn’t attend the ceremony. Diamond and Horovitz accepted the reward and read the speech that Yauch had written.
He started a battle with his illness in 2005. He was diagnosed with cancerous parotod gland and lymph node. Unfortunatly he lost a battle and died at age of 47 .
