DJ Mister Cee Has Passed Away

The acclaimed New York DJ, whose prominent career left a mark in Hip-Hop, DJ Mister Cee has passed away, aged 57. Born Calvin LeBrun, Mister Cee was a part of The Juice Crew and the DJ behind Big Daddy Kane’s 1988 debut album Long Live The Kane. He was the man to first discover The Notorious B.I.G., and served as an executive producer on his 1994 debut release, Ready To Die.

DJ Mister Cee was also distinguished as a radio personality, hosting the iconic “Throwback At Noon” show on HOT 97, where he stayed for 21 years. After leaving HOT 97, he became the host of “The Set It Off Show” on LL Cool J’s Rock The Bells Radio on Sirius XM, and continued his legendary “Throwback At Noon” at 94.7, The Block.

DJ Mister Cee’s influence remains written in the history books of Hip-Hop.
