DJ Kay Slay Passed Away

New York City DJ, Producer & graffiti artist DJ Kay Slay died last Sunday after a four-month battle with COVID-19. He had reportedly succumbed to complications of COVID-19 after being hospitalized with the disease in December and put on a ventilator.

DJ Kay Slay began his career as a graffiti artist and performed hip-hop in his spare time. He was featured in the 1983 hip-hop documentary. Known as the Drama King DJ Kay Slay’ rose through the ranks by refereeing the biggest MC battles on his Streetsweeper mixtapes. He had released four studio albums, starting with 2003’s The Streetweeper, Vol. 1.
