Derek B – The Woodford Rapper Exhibition

For 3 months from October 2nd to December 29th in a new small display, Redbridge Museum will celebrate the life of rapper and local Woodford boy, Derek B.

Derek shot to fame in the late 1980s as one of the first black British rappers to make it big in the UK. His biggest hit record was Bad Young Brother. Derek died of a heart attack in London on 15 November 2009 at the age of 44.

On display for the first time will be photographs, albums and music from Derek B‘s life, lent by his family and friends. This includes his Silver Record celebrating 60,000 album sales, on loan from the Black Cultural Archives.
