Def Jam’s Female Rapper Bo$$ Has Passed Away

The Detroit-born emcee, Bo$$, who was the first female signee to Def Jam West, and is often credited as the first female gangsta rapper, has unfortunately passed away on March 11th, 2024.  Born Lichelle Marie Laws, Bo$$ has made waves with her debut album Born Gangstaz in 1993,  with Billboard-charting singles “Deeper” and “Recipe Of A Hoe”, after being discovered by DJ Quik. While the cause of death remains unconfirmed, it is likely further complications from her long battle with renal disease, from which she suffered since 2011.
