Biz Markie Passed Away

Pioneering beatboxer, rapper, and beloved cultural figure Biz Markie passed away at the age of 57. Biz was battling Type II Diabetes and was hospitalized last summer due to complications. His condition was never revealed, just rumors that he might be recovering were dropped here and there.

Biz was an early standout in the Juice Crew. His first solo album was 1988’s Goin’ Off, entirely produced by Marley Marl, including classic singles like Make the Music with Your Mouth, Biz, Nobody Beats the Biz, and Vapors. The follow-up The Biz Never Sleeps, generated Markie’s biggest hit, Just A Friend.

BlackoutHipHop extends condolences to the family, friends, and fans of Biz Markie.
