Zumbi of Zion I Dies At 49
Hip-hop community mourns the death of Steve Gaines, also known as Zumbi; MC from the Oakland-based hip-hop group Zion I. According to DJ True Justice, the 49-year-old rapper died on August 13 due to Covid-19 related complications that caused a severe asthma attack, leading to a heart stop. He passed away at Alta Bates Hospital after the doctors failed to revive him.
Since 2000, when the Mind Over Matter debut album was released, Zumbi with his Zion I crew has been making great impact on hip-hop with his positive messages and spiritualism, influencing many with his style and skills.
