Yasiin Bey’s First Solo Music in 5 Years Drops This Month!
Yasiin Bey (formerly Mos Def) will debut new solo material on December 15 via a livestream performance, Money Christmas. Streaming on Bandcamp at 2 p.m. EST for $7.99, the event features artwork by Spanish-Moroccan artist Anuar Khalifi, depicting Osama bin Laden as Santa Claus.
The performance won’t hit traditional streaming platforms; instead, mastered audio, video, and merch will be available on Bandcamp 24–48 hours after the livestream, with vinyl to follow.
Money Christmas marks the first of multiple upcoming releases aiming to strengthen fan connections through integrated music, art, and video. Bey’s history of experimental rollouts includes Negus (2019), a museum-only album, and Black Star’s No Fear of Time (2022), initially exclusive to Luminary.
