{"id":96859,"date":"2015-11-11T18:45:32","date_gmt":"2015-11-11T17:45:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.blackouthiphop.com\/?p=96859"},"modified":"2015-11-11T18:45:32","modified_gmt":"2015-11-11T17:45:32","slug":"dig-of-the-day-ini-what-you-say-1995","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blackouthiphop.com\/blog\/dig-of-the-day-ini-what-you-say-1995\/","title":{"rendered":"Dig Of The Day: InI &#8211; What You Say (1995)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe width=\"100%\" height=\"344\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/4bD-_tPapNc\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>We have a classic material from one of the smoothest and realest cats in the game, the legendary Mount Vernon underground group called <strong>InI<\/strong>, which was composed of <strong>Rob-O, Grap Luva, Ras G<\/strong> a.k.a. <strong>I Love H.I.M.<\/strong>, <strong>Marco Polo<\/strong>, now known as <strong>Jolomite<\/strong>, and <strong>DJ Boodakhan<\/strong>.<br \/>\n<em>What You Say <\/em> is a part of their debut and only album <em>Center Of Attention<\/em>. The album eventually became one of the most bootlegged unreleased albums in Hip-Hop history but in 2003 it saw an official release thanks to <strong>Rapster Records<\/strong> and was included on <em>Lost &#038; Found: Hip Hop Underground Soul Classics<\/em>, a double LP of <strong>Pete Rock<\/strong>&#8216;s mid-1990s production work, the other LP being <strong>Deda<\/strong> &#8211; <em>The Original Baby Pa<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, <strong>Pete Rock<\/strong>&#8216;s distribution deal with <strong>Elektra Records<\/strong> fell through and plans to release the albums were subsequently cancelled because of issues over ownership of the masters. <strong>InI<\/strong> were signed to <strong>Pete Rock<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Elektra<\/strong> imprint <strong>Soul Brother Records<\/strong> in 1994 but only managed to release the <em>Fakin&#8217; Jax<\/em> 12&#8243; before <strong>Elektra<\/strong> and <strong>Pete<\/strong> parted ways. They were active from 1990 &#8211; 1997.<\/p>\n<p>Samples used &#8211; <em>Lay Lady Lay<\/em> by <strong>David T.
