Iconic New Jersey emcee Chill Rob G<\/strong> was an original member of Queen Latifah’s<\/strong> influential Flavor Unit<\/strong> crew, alonside the likes of Lakim Shabazz, Naughty By Nature, Latee,<\/strong> and Apache<\/strong>. R.A. The Rugged Man<\/strong> was heavily influenced by Flavor Unit<\/strong> during his teenage years, especially Chill Rob<\/strong>. “His Ride the Rhythm<\/em> album produced by 45 King<\/strong> was so lyrical on so many levels,” says R.A.<\/strong> “I loved the whole vibe and sound.” <\/p>\n

An important early innovator who helped push the artform forward in the turbulent early 90s, Chill Rob G<\/strong> has drawn praise from many top emcees, including Nas<\/strong>. “So when Rob G<\/strong> asked me to do something with him, I was like, ‘Of course, let’s make something special’,” says R.A.<\/strong> <\/p>\n

The result is Tell Em,<\/em> a song and video taken from Rob’s<\/strong> new EP Chilled Not Frozen<\/em>. “I think it came out vintage classic sound,” R.A.<\/strong> explains. “I\u2019m excited about this one. Real underground HipHop 101.”<\/p>\n
