Originally from the West Coast and one of Compton’s earliest rappers \u2013 King Tee<\/strong>, released this track as a single from his debut album of the same name on Capitol Records<\/strong> back in 1988 and the track is considered as a hip hop classic in the West Coast.<\/p>\n

King<\/strong> is cited as a big influence on early to mid-90’s gangsta rap even though he enjoyed little commercial success. He influenced The Notorious B.I.G.<\/strong> with his flow, style and deep voice which BIG<\/strong> would imitate at times on his classic 1994 Ready To Die<\/em> album and by the words of Ice T <\/strong>from an interview, King Tee<\/strong> was one of BIG’s<\/strong> favorite rappers. King<\/strong> collaborated with DJ Pooh<\/strong> and E-Swift<\/strong> who were practically unknown at the time. <\/p>\n

He resurfaced from time to time, on Dr. Dre’s<\/strong> 2001<\/em> and released some independent albums of his own. Interestingly, he was a mentor of a \u201ethen young\u201c trio called Tha Alkaholiks<\/strong> and helped them release their debut album under his guidance on Loud Records<\/strong> in 1993.<\/p>\n
