On Friday March 26th, 2010 my camp lost an important figure to us. Howard Tenenbaum, aka Uncle Howie, was not only ILL BILL & Necro’s uncle, but he was an important part of the Non Phixion\/Uncle Howie Records movement. When Bill decided to name his record label after his uncle, Howie immediately became part of all of our families. Howie struggled with drug addiction his whole life and through that struggle he was a positive influence on us by showing us by his mistakes what NOT to do. Hence naming the label after him. He was a man who beat the odds many times over. Unfortunately it was cancer that finally caught up with him.<\/p>\n

We’re all going to miss having him around, bringing him out on stage and letting the fans see the man who was immortalized on records. Especially Bill and Necro. Man, the stories they could tell you about Howie growing up! So below are links to this past Sunday’s RIOC show which wasn’t so much a tribute show, but rather an acknowledgement of Howie’s impact on us all. Listen to the intro and you’ll get a pretty good idea of the life he led.<\/p>\n
