DJ Mehdi has tragically died in an accident in Paris at the age of 34.<\/p>\n

According to DJmag<\/a>, he was on the roof of his home in Paris with a group of friends celebrating the birthday of Riton, his partner in Carte Blanche, when the roof collapsed. A number of others are reported to have been seriously injured in the tragic accident. Riton, aka Henry Smithson, is said to be the only person not to have fallen through the roof.<\/p>\n

Mehdi, born Mehdi Fav\u00e9ris-Essadi, was one of the first to twist hip-hop into new electro shapes, making a couple of albums for Ed Banger<\/a> and producing a number of notable tunes and remixes.<\/p>\n

Mehdi collaborated with the likes of Daft Punk, Cassius, MC Solaar, Futura 2000 and Asian Dub Foundation.<\/p>\n

Cut Killer<\/a>, Drake<\/a>, Chromeo<\/a>, Kid Sister<\/a>, Just Blaze<\/a> and many other expressed their grief on Twitter.<\/p>\n
