The NY Daily News announced that City Lore and the Municipal Art Society will pay tribute to six spots in New York City they see as repositories of local culture and history. Usually award ceremonies honor a person or persons. This one will heralds places.
\nOne of those special places is 1520 Sedgwick Avenue recognized by fans the world over as the birthplace of Hip Hop culture. 1520 Sedgwick Ave. is where DJ Kool Herc (Clive Campbell), The Father of Hip Hop<\/em>, first played his break beats<\/em> at a house party on August 11, 1973 in the small recreation room and laid the foundation of the music and culture.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
