In the first overseas edition of our “Behind The Sound” series, we talked with Queens producer, IceRocks<\/strong>. During his career, he’s worked with high-profile names such as Benny The Butcher<\/strong>, Rome Streetz<\/strong>, Meyhem Lauren, and more.\u00a0 We’ve had a chance to see him perform alongside Meyhem Lauren<\/strong> during their European tour, and decided to catch up with him to discuss a few topics, including his upcoming projects and opinion on the current state of Hip-Hop.<\/p>\n

You’ve recently returned from a European tour with Meyhem Lauren. How did the European crowds connect with your sound, and was the experience a lot different from performing in the states?<\/h3>\n

Well, we\u2019ve been overseas a few times and each time we get a lot of love, the European crowd I think is more hyped cause over in nyc we\u2019re spoiled, there\u2019s always a show happening and everyone passes through our city on their tours.<\/p>\n

Coming out of Queens, who were your biggest producing influences early on, and are they still apparent in your music today?<\/h3>\n

The list is long but a few that def helped me shape my sound would be Prince Paul, Rza, Ditc, QTip, Havoc, Pete\u00a0Rock<\/span>, Premo etc etc.<\/p>\n

Can you tell us more about how your collaborations with artists such as Meyhem Lauren and Benny The Butcher came together?<\/h3>\n

Meyhem came to a radio show interview on this radio show we had back in like 06\/07 and we ended up linking and making got the fever and the rest is history as for Benny, I heard him on a Gunn song and hit him up on IG early and we got in the studio when he came to nyc and we made Don’t Make Me which ended up on Butcher on Steroids.<\/p>\n
