Ro\u0111en 1966. u Houstonu, kasnije se preselio u Brooklyn, gdje je zapo\u010dela njegova glazbena legenda. Najpoznatiji je kao polovica legendarnog dua <strong>Gang Starr<\/strong>, kojeg je \u010dinio s pokojnim <strong>Guruom<\/strong>. Premierov prepoznatljiv stil temelji se na surovim bubnjevima, jazzy semplovima i preciznim scratchanjem, \u010dime je definirao zvuk isto\u010dne obale 1990-ih. Osim rada s Gang Starrom, sura\u0111ivao je s nizom hip-hop velikana kao \u0161to su <strong>Nas<\/strong>, <strong>Jay-Z<\/strong>, <strong>Notorious B.I.G.<\/strong> i <strong>KRS One<\/strong>. Njegov produkcijski potpis odavno je postao sinonim za autenti\u010dni boom bap. Tako\u0111er je radio na projektima izvan hip-hopa, uklju\u010duju\u0107i suradnje s <strong>D\u2019Angelom<\/strong> i <strong>Christinom Aguilerom<\/strong>. Unato\u010d promjenama u glazbenoj industriji, ostao je vjeran analognim tehnikama i vinilu. Njegov utjecaj se i danas osje\u0107a, a nove generacije producenata i repera i dalje ga navode kao klju\u010dnu inspiraciju. DJ Premier je vi\u0161e od producenta \u2013 on je \u010duvar zlatnog doba hip-hopa, mo\u017eemo re\u0107i i veliki prijatelj Zagreba. Ro\u0111en 1977. u Beverly Hillsu zapo\u010deo je glazbeni put kao MC u tinejd\u017eerskoj grupi <strong>The Whooliganz<\/strong> s glumcem<strong> Scottom Caanom<\/strong>. Karijeru gradi po\u010detkom 2000-ih kada se fokusira isklju\u010divo na produkciju, stvaraju\u0107i mra\u010dne, psihodeli\u010dne beatove koji su ubrzo postali njegov za\u0161titni znak. Alchemist se probija suradnjama s velikim imenima kao \u0161to su <strong>Mobb Deep<\/strong>, <strong>Nas<\/strong>, <strong>Dilated Peoples<\/strong> i <strong>Eminem<\/strong>, \u010diji je i danas slu\u017ebeni DJ na turneji, no sura\u0111uje i s mla\u0111om gardom:<strong> Larry June<\/strong>, R<strong>oc Marciano<\/strong>, <strong>Boldy James<\/strong>,<strong> Benny The Butcher<\/strong>, <strong>Conway The Machine<\/strong>, <strong>Action Bronson<\/strong> samo su neki od njih. Danas je nezaobilazna figura podjednako i na underground i na mainstream sceni. Njegova sposobnost da u hip-hop unese atmosferu filma noir, uz impresivnu radnu etiku, u\u010dinila ga je omiljenim me\u0111u MC-jevima koji te\u017ee kvalitetnom sadr\u017eaju i stilu. Osim \u0161to izdaje samostalne instrumentalne albume, The Alchemist \u010desto sura\u0111uje na zajedni\u010dkim LP-ima, donose\u0107i dosljedan, ali nikad predvidljiv zvuk o \u010demu \u0107e posvjedo\u010diti i najnoviji album <strong>Erykah Badu<\/strong> na kojem trenuta\u010dno rade. Od pionirskih dana u eteru, Blackout je izgradio status kultne platforme koja je oblikovala doma\u0107u scenu i spojila generacije ljubitelja rapa. Danas BlackoutHipHop.com djeluje kao vode\u0107i regionalni i jedan od najistaknutijih europskih hip-hop blogova. Ova godina pokazala se izuzetno plodonosnom za Phillieja i Blackout ekipu: odr\u017eana je fantasti\u010dna i vrlo posje\u0107ena izlo\u017eba \u201cMemory Lane \u2013 40 godina hip-hopa\u201d, objavljena istoimena knjiga, izdan je Zagreb Rap Demo album u suradnji s Dallas Recordsom, a kulminiralo nastupom Mobb Deepa u Boogaloou. Uz sve to, uspje\u0161no je zaklju\u010den i EU projekt She Raps, posve\u0107en afirmaciji \u017eenskih izvo\u0111a\u010dica u hip-hopu.
