Entrepreneur, Music and Entertainment Industry Professional, Author, Speaker and Artist\u00a0Greg “Olskool Ice-Gr\u0113” Lewis<\/b>\u00a0of the group\u00a0Abstract Mindstate<\/b>\u00a0continues his quest of expanding the Rap\/Hip\u00a0<\/span>Hop category at awards shows as well as the call letters at commercial radio to include a new genre and format he affectionately calls\u00a0Adult Contemporary Hip Hop<\/i>,\u00a0<\/span>ACH for short.<\/span><\/p>\n

Olskool Ice-Gr\u0113 branded his group\u2019s music Adult Contemporary Hip Hop over two decades ago. It wasn’t until 2021, after a 16-year hiatus, when\u00a0Kanye West<\/b>\u00a0<\/span>reintroduced Abstract Mindstate as the first artists to release music on his\u00a0Yeezy Sound<\/i>\u00a0(YZY SND) platform, did his concept begin to morph into more than just a conversation. In an effort to make ACH a real thing, Olskool Ice-Gr\u0113 began the work that led to him writing and submitting a proposal to the Recording Academy to expand the Rap\/Hip\u00a0<\/span>Hop category at\u00a0The Grammys<\/i>. Driven by passion and focus, he followed this action by also submitting his proposal to another highly produced and heavily attended Los Angeles based awards show called the\u00a0Hollywood Independent Music Awards<\/i>.<\/p>\n

It was here where this expanded category was accepted and implemented. Although Olskool began speaking life into the idea of Adult Contemporary Hip Hop in 2021 during his group\u2019s press run, it wasn’t until 2024 that ACH became a hot-button topic amongst the brightest and most iconic in Hip Hop culture and music. Many notables, including legends like West Coast Rap Icon\u00a0Ice-T<\/b> are in support of this idea of Adult Contemporary Hip Hop as an expanded category.
