Polish website DustyRoom.pl<\/a><\/strong> recently asked me to write a story on the Big L<\/strong> show I promoted back at Club Aquarius Zagreb<\/strong> in 1997.<\/p>\n

My partner Dj Frx<\/strong> & I started our Blackout Rap Show<\/em> in Zagreb, Croatia in November of ’93. When it came to ’97 we wanted 2 celebrate our radio show’s 4th anniversary with something special. A year before (1996) I spent 4 great months in London & through Dapo Ajayi<\/strong> (UK Zulu King<\/strong>) I met Serena Parsons<\/strong>, she used to run a booking agency called Profile<\/strong>. A year later (’97) she offered to book O.C.<\/strong> as he was coming to Europe to promote his ‘Jewelz<\/em>‘ album which we loved and played a lot. It was supposed to be my first ever US promoted Rap show in Zagreb. We had P.E. Ice T, Afrika<\/strong> Bambaataa<\/strong> before, I definitely went to see those gigs & even DJ’d at the Bambaataa<\/strong> one.<\/p>\n

A week or so before the show I received a fax from Serena with the passengers list (to book flights & hotels since they were spending 3-4 days in Zagreb on their off days). One thing that was interesting on the list was the name Lamont Coleman<\/strong>, I asked Serena if that was Big L<\/strong> & she said yes, L was going on a tour as a support for O.C.<\/strong> We were all Big L<\/strong> fans, and we heard his Columbia Records album & DITC<\/strong> singles ‘Day One’<\/em> & ‘The Enemy’<\/em> w\/ Fat Joe<\/strong> was already out & in high rotation on my radio show. The DJ who came with L & O<\/strong> was DJ O.Gee<\/strong>, a producer from DITC<\/strong>. The boys arrived with no problems, we checked them in at the hotel Intercontinental<\/strong> (Westin<\/strong> nowadays).<\/p>\n
