\u201cAuthenticity\u201d is the 3rd full-length from indie-soul duo The Foreign Exchange.<\/p>\n

Picking up where their 2008 Grammy-nominated \u201cLeave It All Behind\u201d set left off, \u201cAuthenticity\u201d is the group\u2019s most diverse work to date, with a tight, 11-track song cycle spanning the duo\u2019s trademark brand of lush electronic soul, to stripped down acoustic pieces that recall the heyday of 70\u2032s singer-songwriter driven folk.<\/p>\n

Lead single \u201cMaybe She\u2019ll Dream Of Me\u201d is a playful, synth-driven hip-hop groove featuring a rapped verse from Phonte that evokes the band\u2019s \u201cConnected\u201d era, while the epic opener \u201cThe Last Fall\u201d finds some of the band\u2019s most cynical lyrics to date (\u201cLove is at worst an excuse\/at best it\u2019s a truce\u2026\u201d) over a frenzied Nicolay production jammed with layers of strings, guitars, and dense choral harmonies.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think every band reaches that point when they come into their own and find a sound that is distinctively theirs,\u201d says Phonte in reference to the album\u2019s title. \u201cThe title refers to me and Nic\u2019s journey to find our own unique space within this vast musical landscape. The biggest challenge as a musician is to find that \u2018thing\u2019 that makes you who you are. But I think we\u2019re getting there, and we\u2019re finding our way more and more with each record.\u201d<\/p>\n

Featuring guest appearances from longtime contributors YahZarah, Darien Brockington, Zo! and Median, and also relative newcomers Chantae Cann and Jesse Boykins III, \u201cAuthenticity\u201d hits stores 10\/12 on +FE Music.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
