According to an SEC filing, New York-based music-rights company Reservoir<\/strong> has acquired the groundbreaking New York-based hip-hop and electronic label Tommy Boy Music<\/strong> for around $100 million. The deal comprises more than 6,000 masters, including iconic hits from the \u201880s and early \u201890s such as Coolio<\/strong>\u2019s Gangsta\u2019s Paradise<\/em>, House of Pain<\/strong>\u2019s Jump Around<\/em>, and Afrika Bambaataa & The Soulsonic Force<\/strong>\u2019s Planet Rock<\/em>.<\/p>\n

This serves as great news to all De La Soul<\/strong> fans as a follow-up to their \u201cBoycott Tommy Boy\u201d as the group\u2019s classic recordings remain unavailable on streaming services. A situation Reservoir seems likely to work to resolve: A rep for the company tells Variety, \u201cWe have already reached out to De La Soul and will work together to the bring the catalog and the music back to the fans.\u201d<\/p>\n
