The Juice Crew<\/strong> and Cold Chillin\u2019<\/strong> era in the late 80s and early 90s was one of those time capsules that remains forever on the minds of fans that were lucky enough to live in that moment.<\/p>\n

2 days ago BMG Books released Goin\u2019 Off: The Story of the Juice Crew & Cold Chillin\u2019 Records<\/em><\/a>, which features never-before-seen photos and stories from the label founded by Tyrone \u201cFly Ty\u201d Williams & Len Fichtelberg<\/strong>. The same label that gave us artists such as MC Shan, Biz Markie, Masta Ace, Kool G Rap, Big Daddy Kane, GZA, Marley Marl, Roxanne Shant\u00e9 <\/strong>and more. The book also features a forward by Stones Throw Records<\/strong> founder Peanut Butter Wolf<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In an exclusive conversation with HipHopDX<\/strong>, Masta Ace speaks on being a part of that special time period, the lessons he learned from his time on the label and why his time on the label was, more than anything, a cautionary tale.<\/p>\n
