Jimmy Spicer<\/strong> past away last Friday of lung and brain cancer at the age of 61. His debut single, The Adventures of Super Rhyme (Rap)<\/em>, came out in 1980 and proved to be an influential early hip-hop landmark. His next singles, The Bubble Bunch <\/em>and Money (Dollar Bill Y\u2019all)<\/em>, established him as a rap pioneer and have been sampled by Wu-Tang Clan, Busta Rhymes, Kanye West<\/strong>, and many more. <\/p>\n

Beastie Boys<\/strong>\u2019 Adam \u201cAd-Rock\u201d Horovitz<\/strong> has long credited Spicer<\/strong> as the reason he wanted to become a rapper. Horovitz <\/strong>reflected on Spicer<\/strong>\u2019s impact on him and the group in interview for Rolling Stone<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
