This album marked a radical departure for <strong>Davis<\/strong>, with funk and soul grooves, and was to include vocals by <strong>Al Jarreau &#038; Chaka Khan<\/strong>. The <em>Rubberband<\/em> sessions took place at Ameraycan Studios in LA from October 1985 to January 1986, but was subsequently shelved as <strong>Davis<\/strong> went on to record <em>Tutu<\/em>. <\/p>\n<p>32 years after <em>Rubberband<\/em> recorded, the original producers, <strong>Randy Hall &#038; Zane Giles<\/strong>, teamed up with <strong>Davis<\/strong>\u2019 nephew, <strong>Vince Wilburn, Jr.<\/strong>, to finish and update the title track. In September 2017, they invited the 12-time Grammy nominee soulful singer <strong>Ledisi<\/strong>, to guest on vocals.
