One of the West Coast Hip-Hop pioneers, Godfather<\/strong> (aka Ted Devoux<\/strong>), died last Sunday at the age of 55. <\/p>\n

Godfather<\/strong> was a founding member and band-leader of Boo-Yaa T.R.I.B.E.<\/strong> along with his brothers. Their name mimicked the sound of a shotgun blast with the second half serving as an acronym for Too Rough International Boo-Yaa Empire.<\/p>\n

Over the years, Boo-Ya T.R.I.B.E.<\/strong> released several LPs (New Funky Nation, Good Times Bad Times, Mafia Lifestyle<\/em>) and collaborated with artists like Ice Cube, Mack 10, Eminem, George Clinton & Layzie Bone<\/strong> among others. In 1993 the T.R.I.B.E.<\/strong> appeared on the Judgment Night<\/em> OST performing Another Body Murdered<\/em> with Faith No More<\/strong>. <\/p>\n
