You never know what you\u2019re going to pull out of the crates when you&#8217;re blindfolded at the record store\u2014and the results aren\u2019t always optimal.<\/p>\n<p>Herein lies the beauty of &#8220;Rhythm Roulette,&#8217; and Beat Butcha\u2019s efforts in our latest episode. After blindly sifting through tons of records, Butcha emerged with \u201cMidnight Energy\u201d by Mantus\u2014which \u201clooks like it\u2019s going to be some sort of disco shit\u201d\u2014Raphael Saadiq\u2019s \u201cInstant Vintage\u201d\u2014a gospel record that Butcha admitted would be a tough sample, despite its likely \u2018dopeness\u2019\u2014and The Dells\u2019 \u201cThere Is,\u201d the record most likely to contain \u2018the heat,\u2019 according to the producer himself.<\/p>\n<p>Producing records for grimy street poets like Prodigy, Lloyd Banks, Jadakiss and Sean Price during his career, Beat Butcha may not have deep experience dabbling in disco and gospel. But you wouldn\u2019t know it by the way he whipped this track up.
