Kendrick Lamar<\/strong>\u2018s DAMN.<\/em> hit the web 2 weeks ago blowing up the entire Hip-Hop community. And it comes as no surprise that the album has been well received, full of featured artists and some of the industry\u2019s best producers and writers. The samples from DAMN.<\/em> include a huge variety like Bruno Mars<\/strong>\u2018 24K Magic<\/em> on Loyalty<\/em>, along with homage to Ol\u2019 Dirty Bastard<\/strong>, JAY-Z<\/strong>, Rick James<\/strong> and more.<\/p>\n

If you have listened carefully or watched any of the track breakdowns on the web you may have noticed that Kendrick<\/strong>‘s Duckworth<\/em> is actually based on a sample from September<\/strong>, 70’s Jazz Rock group from Ex-Yugoslavia and their song, Ostavi Trag<\/em>. <\/p>\n

September<\/strong> was founded in 1975 by organist Tihomir Pop Asanovi\u010d and vocalist\/guitar player Janez Bon\u010dina \u2013 Ben\u010d. They gathered excellent instrumentalists of the then Yugoslavian jazz and rock scene, toured across the globe and did recording sessions in the States. Ostavi Trag<\/em> is featured in their 1976 album Zadnja Avantura<\/em>.<\/p>\n
