Charlie Murphy, a performer on \u201cThe Chappelle Show\u201d and Eddie Murphy\u2019s older brother, has died. His rep Domenick Nati confirmed to Variety that the star lost his battle with leukemia. He was 57.<\/p>\n

Murphy lent his comedic talents to the Comedy Central sketch show as both a writer and an actor.<\/p>\n

His \u201cCharlie Murphy\u2019s True Hollywood Stories\u201d sketch replayed encounters with various celebs such as Rick James and Prince when he was a member of his brother\u2019s entourage.<\/p>\n

The elder Murphy \u2014 sometimes credited as Charles Murphy \u2014 also served as a writer on his brother\u2019s movies, including \u201cVampire in Brooklyn\u201d and \u201cNorbit.\u201d<\/p>\n

He was also an accomplished voiceover actor, working on \u201cThe Boondocks,\u201d \u201cTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,\u201d and the video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.<\/p>\n

Murphy was slated to appear on the next season of \u201cPower.\u201d<\/p>\n
