Quik started getting at his peers on hand-to-hand cassettes during the late 80s. Even the closing lines to 94\u2019s <em>Dollaz + Sense<\/em> had Quik saying: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Y\u2019all don\u2019t understand, y\u2019all can\u2019t fade this<br \/>\nI\u2019m the first nigga that was \u2018Bangin on Wax\u2019<br \/>\nYeah if you remember, 1987 underground tapes<br \/>\nAnd it don\u2019t stop, and it won\u2019t stop.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Well, today <em>The Red Tape<\/em> from 1987 has surfaced and all 11 tracks bang hard on wax. The tape also features <em>Born And Raised In Compton<\/em>, the first official single from Quik&#8217;s debut major-label studio album, <em>Quik Is the Name<\/em>.
