NBC News has reported that Kanye West is currently under observation at a Los Angeles hospital late Monday after the remaining dates of his \u2018Saint Pablo\u2019 Tour were abruptly canceled. Los Angeles police responded to a medical welfare call about 1:20 p.m. (4:20 p.m. ET). According to sources close to the rapper, Kanye is being treated for \u201cexhaustion,\u201d and no criminal activity was involved. West\u2019s wife, Kim Kardashian West, was in New York for a charity event to honor her late father. Upon hearing the news about Kanye, she quickly flew back to Los Angeles; this would have marked her first public appearance since the robbery in Paris, something that has weighed heavily on West since it happened.<\/p>\n
His admission to the hospital followed a week of bizarre incidents during which the controversial rapper publicly railed against fellow music stars Beyonc\u00e9 and Jay Z and proclaimed his support for President-elect Donald Trump. Upon cancelling his tour, West will be losing approximately $500,000 USD for each missed performance tallying up towards $10 million USD in total, according to Forbes. According to TMZ, West was placed on what\u2019s known in the state of California as a 5150 hold by his personal physician, Dr. Michael Farzam. Law enforcement sources have told the celebrity news website that Farzam himself made the initial 911 call, telling the dispatcher that the patient was \u201cJim Jones, 39 years old, 5\u20198\u2033, 175 lbs\u2026 suffers from temporary psychosis due to sleep deprivation and dehydration\u201d before warning that West \u201cwas not violent, but would become violent when police arrived to help him.\u201d While it remains unclear if Dr. Farzam did indeed officially place West on a 5150 (an \u201cinvoluntary psychiatric hold\u201d), the revelation lends credence to the news surrounding yesterday\u2019s bizarre episode, as well as the report that West had to be physically restrained upon the arrival of law enforcement and paramedics \u2014 in the case of a 5150, it\u2019s standard protocol for the patient to be handcuffed and confined to a stretcher.
