While Q-Tip<\/strong> did not appear on last night\u2019s edition of his Abstract Radio show<\/strong> on Beats 1, he dedicated the entire episode to his fallen A Tribe Called Quest<\/strong> brother, Phife Dawg<\/strong>, and celebrated him with a 2-hour mix of live and rare Tribe<\/strong> recordings, from Tip<\/strong>\u2019s personal archives. During the show, several noteworthy figures called in to share their reflections on what Phife<\/strong> meant to them, including Outkast, Public Enemy\u2019s Chuck D, Kendrick Lamar<\/strong> and Run The Jewels\u2019 El-P<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Starting at the 32-minute mark, Andre 3000<\/strong> says \u201cA Tribe Called Quest<\/strong> is everything to me. There would not be no Outkast <\/strong>without\u2026well, if there was an Outkast<\/strong>, it would be something completely different.\u201d He goes on to speak in-depth about how ATCQ<\/strong> specifically influenced Outkast<\/strong>\u2019s sound \u201cwe actually pulled out an A Tribe Called Quest<\/strong> instrumental cassette and it as the Scenario<\/em>. I can\u2019t remember if it was the original or the remix. Big Boi<\/strong> probably would remember. And, that\u2019s what we used to rhyme over. So, when we met Organized Noize<\/strong>, that was our first demo\u2026It\u2019s just so crazy that Tribe<\/strong> was so integral in what we do and what we are, and everything that we ever wanted to be.\u201d<\/p>\n
