Video: Dig Of The Day: KRS-One Live At The Uptown Comedy Club (1993)
Today we have a brilliant and rare KRS-One performance from the Uptown Comedy Club in two parts. Above is the first part, while the longer second part is over here.
He drops classics like The Bridge Is Over, South Bronx, with one of the best segue’s I heard as the next track Criminal Minded starts playin’, after which he did a classic known as Sound Of Da Police, with probably a demo version of the beat since its’ a bit different than the album version, followed by the super hard Outta Here in which he drops a chorus along with the crowd and some final words for the night.
In 1989, Andre and Kevin Brown started a movement right in the heart of Harlem: the Uptown Comedy Club. From a hole in the wall to the place to be, the Uptown Comedy Club solidified its place in history as the premier showcase for up and coming black comedic talent in the 80s and 90s.
Shoutout to my man Phat Phillie
