Video: Dig Of The Day: De La Soul – Ego Trippin’ Part Two (1993)
We have a brilliant and high quality material from the legendary group De La Soul, a track titled Ego Trippin’ Part Two, which was released as a single on Tommy Boy in ’93 and also appears on De La Soul‘s 3rd album Buhloone Mind State from the same year. The track features vocal contributions from female Philadelphia rapper Shorty No Mass who also appears in the video.
The song never actually had a “Part One”. The “Part Two” in the title is a reference to Ultramagnetic MC‘s Ego Trippin’. However, as a parody of gangsta rap, it was preceded by De La Soul‘s own Afro Connections at a Hi 5 (In the Eyes of a Hoodlum) from their 1991 album, De La Soul is Dead.
Pure classic.
Produced by De La Soul and Prince Paul.
