The Electric Mudcats Feat. Chuck D, Common, Rahzel And Kyle Jason) – Mannish Boy
Back in 2003. The Blues, a documentary film series produced by Martin Scorsese was released and dedicated to the history and influence of blues music. In each of the seven episodes, a different director explores a stage in the development of the blues. The series originally aired on PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) in the United States.
In one of the episodes titled “Godfather and Sons” we can see the connection between blues and hip hop, which is phenomenal. The Electric Mudcats met with Chuck D, Common, Rahzel And Kyle Jason to perform Mannish Boy. Chuck D put Muddy’s original backing band (including Pete Cosey) back together for this incredible re-imagining of one of Muddy’s best songs.
Enjoy the track and if you didn’t watch the series make sure to do that cause everything came from Blues.
