R&B and Soul Singer, Angie Stone, has Passed Away

Renowned R&B and soul singer, Angie Stone, has unfortunately passed away on March 1st, 2025, after being involved in a vehicle collision. Many fans were left saddened by the sudden passing of the beloved diva. Born as Angela Laverne Brown in 1961, in South Carolina, Angie Stone first rose to fame in the late 1970’s, as a part of a female Hip-Hop trio, The Sequence; who were signed to Sugar Hill Records.

In the early 1990’s, she became a part of an R&B trio, Vertical Hold, before signing to Arista Records as a solo act, and releasing her debut album, “Black Diamond,” which recieved a gold certification by the RIAA, in 1999. After transfering to J Records, she would go on to release three albums, “Mahogany Soul” in 2001, “Stone Love” in 2004, and “The Art of Love & War” in 2007, the latter of which became her first number-one album on the U.S. Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

During her career, she released a total of 11 albums, won two Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards, and received a Soul Music Icon Award at the Black Music Honors. She was also nominated for three Grammy Awards. Angie Stone also heavily delved into acting, and has appeared in numerous movies and TV shows, as well as theatrical productions.

Her many talents will certainly continue to be cherished.
