Lost Ella Fitzgerald Album Set For February Release
Verve Records has unveiled a long-lost treasure for jazz enthusiasts with the announcement of The Moment Of Truth: Ella At The Coliseum, a never-before-released live album from the legendary Ella Fitzgerald. Recorded at the Oakland Coliseum on June 30, 1967, the album was discovered in the private tape collection of Verve Records founder Norman Granz, offering fans a rare glimpse of the iconic singer in a breathtaking live performance.
The concert features Fitzgerald performing alongside members of The Duke Ellington Orchestra, showcasing her impeccable vocal prowess. The album includes two unique tracks—Alfie and Music To Watch Girls By—both of which Ella performed in the ’60s but never released on an album, adding even more intrigue to this already exciting release.
The album is set for release on February 28, with pre-orders available now. The first song to drop is the title track, The Moment of Truth, a powerful performance that has been meticulously mixed and mastered from the original analog multitrack tapes.
