More than three decades after his famed debut album, underground hip-hop legend Kurious remains respected for his lyrical prowess and lasting influence. After emerging with the 1994 classic A Constipated Monkey, the talented NYC lyricist later made a comeback via memorable collaborations with iconic emcee MF DOOM, and has continued to showcase his unique style with acclaimed releases like the highly celebrated recent album Majician. His latest release The Mystery Mixtape is a reunion with Majician producer Mono En Stereo, known for his work with De La Soul, Action Bronson, Mos Def, Your Old Droog, Homeboy Sandman, Prodigy, and more.
Ride shotgun through smoky boroughs and back-alley breakbeats with Kurious as he blends sharp wit, raw funk and introspective flair into a journey that feels straight out of a graffiti-tagged time machine. Entirely produced by Mono En Stereo and featuring appearances by Lord Sear, Ceaz Da God, Lord Sko, and Art Morera, the record is equal parts Bronx cipher and psychedelic road trip. Wrapped in vibrant, cartoon-drenched artwork, this limited vinyl pressing is the first release from Kurious’s new label Majik Monkey Spit.
