J Dilla Honored With His Own Street And Day in Detroit

Happy Dilla Day to all Hip-Hop heads of the world! The late, great prodigy that is James Dewitt Yancey, a.k.a. J Dilla, was honored in his hometown of Detroit with his own day, and a street named after him. His birthday, February 7th, will now officially be recognised as “J Dilla Day” in Detroit. Today also marks 19 years since the release of Jay Dee’s iconic album, “Donuts,” which inspired a wide array of musicians, across many genres. It was released on his 32nd birthday, just three days before his untimely passing in 2006.
