Producer and Murder Inc. co-founder, Irv Gotti, has unfortunately passed away on February 5th, 2025, aged 54. The cause of death remains unconfirmed at this moment, although it was known he battled health problems after suffering a stroke in 2024. Irv Gotti, born Irving Domingo Lorenzo Jr., founded Murder Inc. in 1998 as an imprint of Def Jam Records, alongside his brother, Chris. Lyor Cohen granted him the imprint after his contribution as an executive producer on DMX’s debut album, “It’s Dark And Hell Is Hot.” Through the label, he spearheaded the success of artists like Ja Rule and Ashanti, and has produced multiple hit singles like “Holla, Holla,” “What’s Luv?,” and “Foolish.” His signature style of blending Hip-Hop beats with smooth R&B melodies shaped the sound of the charts in the late 90s and early 2000s.

May he rest in peace.
