In Memoriam: Michael “5000” Watts & DJ Mike T (CMW) R.I.P.
Even though the year is still young, we’ve unfortunately already lost prominent figures in the culture, Michael “5000” Watts and DJ Mike T of Compton’s Most Wanted. Two different eras, two different areas, and the same legendary status in the game. Watts was the co-founder of Swishahouse Records, a Houston-based label which released music by artists such as Paul Wall, Mike Jones, and Archie Lee. DJ Mike T was a member of the legendary Los Angeles group, Compton’s Most Wanted. He helped shape the raw sound of the group in the late 80s and early 90s, and has also produced one of their biggest songs, “Hood Took Me Under.”
May both of these legends rest in peace.
