Ice-T On Getting Pink Floyd’s Approval For ‘Comfortably Numb’ Cover
Body Count performed their cover of Pink Floyd’s Comfortably Numb on The Tonight Show, with Ice-T revealing how he secured approval from Roger Waters and David Gilmour despite their long-standing feud.
Released in September, the rap-metal rendition features reworked lyrics and a contribution from Gilmour. Ice-T told Jimmy Fallon he was inspired by Waters’ bass line while looking for songs to sample but initially faced rejection from Pink Floyd’s publishers.
The breakthrough came when Gilmour, impressed by the new lyrics addressing modern fears, gave his approval. Waters followed suit after hearing Ice-T’s performance. “It felt good to have both sides agree—it meant the song was honest and real,” Ice-T said.
