Go Mack Of Above The Law Has Passed Away

(rockthebells.com) Go Mack of the pioneering west coast act Above The Law has reportedly passed. Born Arthur Lee Goodman III, Go Mack was the DJ for Above The Law, which included DJ Total K-Oss, producer Lay Law, and MC’s Cold 187um and The Illustrator KMG.
Above The Law debuted in 1990 with Livin’ Like Hustlers, which produced “Murder Rap”, “Kickin’ Lyrics”, and “Untouchable”. The G Funk sound, later pioneered by Dr. Dre is said to have been born on Livin’ Like Hustlers, which was released on Eazy E’s Ruthless Records, and contained production by Lay Law, Cold 187um, and Dr. Dre.
Above The Law would go on to release Black Mafia Life and Uncle Sam’s Curse on Ruthless in ’92 and ’94 respectively, and in ’96 they would sign to Tommy Boy Records, where they released Time Will Reveal, and Legends. Go Mack left the group in ’92 after Black Mafia Life. Mack was preceded in death by KMG, and Lay Law.
