Fat Joe Has Signed to Roc Nation
Jay Z’s Roc Nation has announced today that Fat Joe has joined its roster. The 46-year-old Bronx rapper is set to release a joint album with Remy Ma titled Plata o Plomo, due out on February 17, and to commemorate the news they’ve released a new single, “Money Showers,” featuring Ty Dolla $ign.
Previously, Joe and Jay Z were engulfed in a tense cold war, sparked perhaps by an incident involving Big Pun or an incident at the infamous Rucker Park playground in Harlem. The tension, which had been around from the mid-2000’s up until last year, was eventually quelled by the “All The Way Up” remix, which featured Jay Z, and signified the end of whatever riff still existed between the two New York juggernauts. They were even photographed together backstage at Beyonce’s Formation tour.
Now, their relationship has matriculated even more. Joe has signed a management deal with Roc Nation, which couldn’t come at a better time. Next month, in addition to the release of Plata o Plomo, Joe will be headed to Los Angeles with Remy Ma with hopes of taking home his first Grammy award for “All The Way Up.” We could potentially also see new solo work from Joe in 2017. It would be his first album since 2010’s The Darkside Vol. 1, and his 11th solo LP.
