Eddie Cheba Has Passed Away

One of Hip-Hop’s pioneers and one of the earliest rapping DJ’s, Eddie Cheba has unfortunately passed away after a series of health issues following several strokes in 2023. Eddie was hailed as one of Hip-hop’s earliest stars and a top-tier DJ on the scene. Def Jam co-founder Russel Simmons cited Eddie’s 1977 live perfomance as the event that inspired him to pursue a career in Hip-Hop. He was also one of several people to release a rap record in 1979, with “Lookin’ Good“ on Tree Line Records.

Cheba’s legacy remains written in the books of Hip-Hop.
