Chase & Status, Stormzy – Backbone

I’ve been thinkin’ for a while now when would Stormzy connect with drum’n’bass artists and make heavy bangers. Considering his rep and experimentation with various genres within grime music, taking a walk down that path seemed pretty logical. And here we are – two of some of the most popular artists in the UK regarding bass music came together for a massive choon.

Chase & Status, now a legendary drum’n’bass duo that made a huge comeback last year with their hit “Baddadan” and the album “2 RUFF, Vol. 1”, took over the charts by storm. After extensive touring people thought they would take a short break, but little did we know, they joined forces with the many awards-winning grime artist Stormzy for yet another certified banger.

Dubbed “Backbone”, the track provides all the best you can think of these three artists. If you as a dnb head did enjoy the “2 RUFF, Vol. 1” album, you can easily think of this as its extension as it provides similar hyped energy with that Chase & Status signature sound.
Same goes with the London-born rapper, as Stormzy follows up in the same manner that brought him all the awards since 2014. His vocal dominance is heavily present, and combining his intense and capturing delivery with the electrifying production is all the fans were waiting for since the track’s debut at Coachella earlier this year. Pure raw power.

Just as with “Baddadan”, I expect for this track to be on heavy rotation until the end of this festival season and fire up the atmosphere in clubs throughout winter.
