Bobbito’s Latest Flick “Rock Rubber 45s” Is A Must Watch!
Bobbito García has put an indelible footprint on multiple urban movements. During the early 90s he was one-half of the legendary Stretch and Bobbito radio show, which introduced to the world so many Hip-Hop icons and was voted by Source Magazine as The Best Hip Hop Radio Show of All Time. In 2003 Bobbito became the critically acclaimed author of Where’d You Get Those? NYC’s Sneaker Culture: 1960-1987. García performed in the ground breaking 2001 Nike ‘Freestyle’ commercial. In 2007, the brand released seven co-designed Air Force 1 sneakers bearing his name. Following his successful movies Doin’ It In The Park: Pick-Up Basketball and Stretch and Bobbito: Radio That Changed Lives, this summer Bobbito García released his third movie Rock Rubber 45s.
Rock Rubber 45s is a cinematic journey through the urban culture over the last 40 years, which successfully links one of the key elements – evolution of music, basketball and sneakers. Bobbito García, one of the most authentic NYC culture orchestrators, dives into his memories to share a first-hand experience of growing into such dynamic atmosphere and eventually shaping it. The film explores his youth dealing with mistreatment, identity, disappointments and losses. Introduction to Hip-Hop and basketball changes his life and allows his creativity to sparkle. On one side Bobbito may appear shy and timid, on the other side he’d be the center of the party on the court or in the club. There’s no doubt that he had a footprint in many of the successful milestones of street culture. Having no manager, just following his artistic trait, the ballplayer/author/DJ/filmmaker Bobbito García has carved an independent career that has inspired millions throughout the world, and has affected the growth and direction of the footwear, hip hop, and sports industries in the process.
